Chiomara Ruadh, Druidess of Ulster, will not be swayed from prophecy. If the Gods of Ireland request that she couple with the king, so be it. If it is also their wish that he marry another woman, who is Chiomara, a simple Druid, to stand in their way?

Erc Breac, king of the Dalriada, can only think of Chiomara. Her beauty is surreal and the tales that follow her across the land unsurpassed. But that is not enough when faced with the obligations of a king. His people must come first. His future wife and queen, Macha, must come first. Yet, fate is a slippery thing. Will Erc risk the whole of his kingdom for what lays in his heart?

This story contains strong sexual content and is recommended for a mature audience.

The King’s Druidess is the lead-in tale to The MacLomain Series. While The King’s Druidess is a short Celtic story, Fate’s Monolith (The MacLomain Series- Book 1), Destiny’s Denial (The MacLomain Series- Book 2) and Sylvan Mist (The MacLomain Series- Book 3) are full length novels.

“Purington weaves an enchanted tale of love, magic, and sacrifice that will leave you wanting more!” ~Rynne Raines, author of The Awakening

“This story is suggestive, and haunting. It is carried by the power of desire, the power of passion, and the power of desperation. There is a richness here that is hard to convey.” ~Nancy A. Lindley- Gauthier

Please NOTE This is a re-launch of titles published years ago. The stories have been revised and tightened. And as aforementioned, the sensual heat level for all four has been turned way up.

The King Druidess The MacLomain Series Prelude edition by Sky Purington Literature Fiction eBooks

This short tale was a prelude to Sky Pruington’s MacLomain Series. This fast paced short story performed its purpose well. It set the stage for future time travel books.

There was the king who was also a magi, the druidess who was in love with him, and several gods along with the goddess Brigit. I found the concept of the three rings and what they meant for future generations intriguing. I try hard not to release any spoilers beyond what is in an author’s description so I won’t reveal any more about the story.

Though, I liked this story and the premise it sets for a future series, I felt it was a bit rushed in spots. It felt to me as if a few extra paragraphs, in certain key areas, would have given the story enough depth to round it out nicely.

The story line piqued my interest enough to buy the boxed set. I will be reviewing Book One, Fate's Monolith next week. It has an interesting book trailer, and this short story whet my appetite for more of the series. I give it 3.5 stars.

The King Druidess The MacLomain Series Prelude edition by Sky Purington Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I have to say that this was a disappointment as it was very short, 30% of this Prelude is ads for her other books. It jumps around quite a bit from the past to what is going on and is a bit hard to follow. Too bad it was not written in a way that you could understand it and follow it. Better luck next time.
I don't usually read 'short' stories. The reason is that most of the time I find them lacking in characters and story.

I am happy to say that this was not the case in this book.
The story was well told. The passion between the H and h was so clearly described.

The idea of the 3 rings leading to the 3 stories in the series really intrigued me.

An enjoyable and worthwhile read.
Erc is a king that has to marry

The druidess is a girl that has to be at the marriage, . . .

When the pair faces each other, there is . . ., pain, and finally . . .

Will Erc marry his intended or the druidess???

Enjoy!!! 😉
The book starts with the two main characters coming together after years of knowing they are to 'couple' for a single night. I can't say I overly enjoyed how the romance was portrayed between them. Erc was sorta just, well.... there. Chiomara is described as a beautiful druidess that garners much attention. When she and Erc are together, everything between them is formal and honestly quite boring. I find the romance entirely lacking; however, the story ending is what captured my attention. The author isn't bad at writing, and everything flows, so if you're interested in reading this book, don't pay for it! If you choose to skip the purchase, then you are welcome to read my spoiler below which will allow you to skip this book altogether and move onto the first book in the series.

***Warning, Spoiler!********

Chiomara and Erc meet at a predestined place between the stones, where their coupling was foretold. Erc is soon to be wed to a woman he doesn't want to marry, yet he cherishes his single night with Chiomara. After they finish, he leaves her to prepare for his wedding celebration. After Chiomara has rested, she is awoken by one of the gods whom feels she needs to keep her feelings at bay and attend the ceremony of Erc and his bride to be.

After arriving, Erc is struck with much emotion upon seeing Chiomara, yet he cannot acknowledge her the way he wishes to. Hours later the celebration begins with a feast in honor of the king. Chiomara is invited to the table by the king's poet who is entirely smitten with her. Naturally Chiomara makes known that she isn't interested in the poet, much to the delight of the king. After the feast ends, she makes her way through the crowds of performers and is met with an unsavory character. Erc see's her in distress and comes to her rescue. Eventually, the bride-to-be shows up and is greeted by the king. Chiomara is hurt watching the couple together, but refrains from showing any emotion. Later the unsavory character reappears only to force himself on Chiomara. Thankfully a god shows up to intervene, which Chiomara is very grateful for.

As the king begins to announce his intention to marry, everyone began cheering. Once he zeroes in on Chiomara's sad smile, something just snaps in him. He proclaims his love for Chiomara and wants to make her his bride since he loves her and currently is carrying their son. Naturally our unsavory male doesn't agree and attempts to attack the king. In response to the attack, Erc makes his move and kills the evil one. Then a god appears and speaks in front of everyone that the king will not be punished for the murder of an evil druid, and he allows the marriage between Chiomara and Erc as long as they are willing to leave their son in Scotland.

Chiomara, not so keen on the idea of separating with her son attempts to flee the king so she could have their son. Erc catches up to her, and promises there will be many children, but Chiomara doesn't agree. Soon a god appears convincing Chiomara that she shouldn't prevent her son from fulfilling his destiny. Chiomara accepts, time is fast forwarded, baby born, and then they return to their time. Erc and Chiomara begin making love again so they can begin anew.
This book was okay for what it was. It's a short story, but I thought it was too short. The plot felt rushed, which was frusterating, especially with the introduction of the various fantasy beings. There was just a lot to take in during this short read and not enough pages to develop the characters. Also, with it being a prelude to a series, which I have not read, I expected it to pull me in enough to want to read the series. This book fell short of the mark.

On the positive side, the writing was good, the price was right, and the love scenes were pretty spicy. If you enjoy the fantasy romance genre, this might be the book that opens the door to a new series for you (it just wasn't for me).
As always a strong tale of magic and confusing time travel! Needed notes to remember how it all works together. Very thought provoking and, well just interesting. Love the way this author thinks and presents her stories. This whole series is such a good read. The love stories are great the way they play out.
This was a quick, romantic read that has been sitting on my TBR pile for a while now. It is a prequel to the author's MacLomain series that I read to prepare for the latest novel that the author was kind enough to gift to me. I had higher hopes for the book, but once I finished it, I was left with many unanswered questions that ultimately detracted from my enjoyment of the story. I'm hoping that the author's Early Years series might answer those questions, but for the time being, I think this book was interesting enough to continue with the series. For $.99, its a decent read, but I would not spend more than that on this book. I am hoping the full novels in the series are better.
